Wyatt Henry
I truly believe everything happens for a reason. We're put in situations and places in times of our lives to end up right where we're supposed to be.
Over 26 years ago the entire area where the Riverton Hospital sits was a farm, the farm my father-in-law and mother-in-law started to raise their family. Now the Riverton Hospital sits right on top of their home. If it wasn't for the changes being made in Salt Lake at that time, my father-in-law would have never taken the check they handed him to buy his land and take a chance on Nevada to buy his dream cattle ranch. I would have never known Andy. We would have never raised this amazing family we have.
After finding out we were pregnant and that we were due within days of my mom's birthday (she would have been 60 this year) I really felt like my mom had something to do with this new miracle.
After a few months of care here in Elko, we decided to switch to Utah. I had a strong sense that I needed to change, that something might happen to me and the baby and we needed to be in Utah. I contacted a good friend of mine, who delivered in Utah twice, and she highly recommended Dr. Twelves. That was all I needed to know. I didn't do any other research on any other doctors. After contacting Dr. Twelves, I saw that she works with 2 hospitals in Utah; Jordan Valley Medical Center and the Riverton Hospital. I looked at Andy and asked if delivering at Riverton would be odd and he was completely on board. It was sentimental to be able to deliver on the land that was once part of Andy's family.
I started having contractions the night of April 1st. I truly didn't know what to do. Baby wasn't due until April 12th, but both Darrel and Kassidy were born a week early, and Kassidy was born within 6 hours of starting contractions! So at 11 p.m., we decided to make the trip into Utah with the kids. As soon as we got to Magna, my contractions were exactly 2 minutes apart. We arrived at our cousins' (Kyle & Cody's) house, dropped the kids off, and headed to the hospital. We were so excited to welcome this new baby.
After spending 4 hours at the hospital and being monitored, they sent me home as the contractions weren't getting any stronger and I wasn't dilating any more. We spent the next 8 days quarantined at Kyle & Cody's. They were absolutely amazing at making us feel at home and spending some quality time with the kids. They even took the whole week off of work to help us out. We couldn't be more grateful for their hospitality.
April 6th came, my mom's birthday, and I talked to my doctor about inducing later that week if the baby still hadn't come. April 6th passed. I had hoped that the baby was going to come that day and come naturally. Both Darrel and Kassidy were big babies, 8lbs 10 oz. I knew I couldn't go to my due date with this baby or I feared an emergency c-section would be needed. So we looked at the hospital schedule and made it official that I'd be induced on April 9th.
April 9th came, I was so anxious and worried about being induced. My body should know what to do, especially with baby #3! But the baby just wasn't coming on it's own.
I had a lot of fears about being induced. As my contractions started getting stronger with the pitocin, we started losing the baby's heartbeat every contraction. The cord ended up being wrapped around the neck. A lot of fears went through my mind in the short amount of time, but the nurses and doctors did an amazing job at talking me through the birth and delivering the most beautiful, healthy, and big baby boy. Wyatt Henry Brown was born on April 9th at 3:53 p.m. at the Riverton Hospital in Utah. He weighed 9lbs 2 oz.
We are now settled back at home with our family of 5. The kids absolutely adore this little man and Andy has been nothing short of amazing with helping me recover. We are so anxious for Covid-19 to be out of our lives so Wyatt can start meeting his friends and family!
Thank you to so many of you that constantly checked in on us, brought us food, and spoiled Wyatt with gifts. We truly appreciate it!
As much as I wanted Wyatt to be born on April 6th, a good friend of my mom's reassured me that he was born exactly when he was supposed to be born and that my mom held on to him on April 6th to celebrate her birthday.
Check out the amazing video of our other two children finding out the gender of the baby here! Thank you to the amazing More by Forevermore Films for the awesome experience, video, and portraits.
