Soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Schmith
Ruby Mountain Bride's 2021
All Inclusive Wedding Giveaway Winners!
We were asked to write a love story for our blog, most everyone has read our submission story which included how we met so I'm going to tell you about our first real date instead.
After we had started talking we met at my god moms house, after that we would hang out whenever we could in between me having my son and our days off. Our time together mostly included him coming to my work and buying me lunch. He would even come when he had to work the next morning. (I worked swing shift so it was always a late lunch) but that didn't matter. We did whatever we needed to do to see each other even for 5 minutes.
Our first real date was a month after he had asked me to be his girlfriend.. a trip to Reno. He had a whole weekend planned for just the 2 of us. It started out with a quick stop in Lovelock so I could meet his parents.
As you might have read in our submission letter, Kyle's family plays a huge role in our lives. I knew the second I stepped foot in their house how much he was loved. His parents literally beamed of pride. There were snacks on the table and the whole house smelled like cookies from a burning candle. They were and still are the nicest people I know. It was that moment I knew I loved him. The way his dad talked about his success and the way his mom smiled at him when he looked at me. It's where I felt I belonged. For the first time in a long time my life felt complete.
After the Lovelock stop we were on our way to Reno. We got to our hotel, changed, and went to dinner downstairs. After that was mini golf, movies, and a walk around the pond. That night will forever be engraved in my mind. It was the night he said "I love you". The next day we bought coffee, the only thing he let me pay for might I add. We drove to a retirement home so he could meet my great grandma. I knew it was probably the last time I would see her so I took the time to do so. My grandma Blanche was very old and her memory wasn't the greatest. But when we walked into the home she said "You're going to marry my granddaughter and I can't wait". We sat for a couple hours and right before we left she pulled me in close for a hug and said "Hannah you promise to keep that one, okay?". She was so right about everything she said which only validated my feelings for him even more.
A few hours later we made the trip home. He pulled up to my grandparents house and asked if it was okay if he officially met my son. I was hesitant, and afraid as any mom would be, but I agreed. Casen was a shy, quiet little boy to people he didn't know but for whatever reason he walked right up to Kyle that night and asked him to brush his teeth. Casen also wouldn't talk. We knew he could but he just wouldn't. Until Kyle. Ever since then Casen has been an open book. Kyle has taught him so many things and completely changed that boys life. Everyone who knows them sees it. Fast forward to today and his parents still beam of pride but for completely different reasons. We have a crazy sassy 2 year old daughter and a son who loves Kyle unconditionally and is flourishing in every way possible. Our life is nowhere near perfect but in our own little bubble its a small fairytale.
We will forever be so grateful for this opportunity to seal the deal and become Mr. and Mrs. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for this incredible giveaway.
